Appeals

To appeal a criminal conviction, you must file your case with the local Court of Appeals. This court manages all appellate cases and is responsible for hearing your case and determining whether your appeal will move forward.

The Texas Second Court of Appeals is also located at the Tim Curry Criminal Justice Center in Tarrant County. The Second Court of Appeals has authority over appeals from criminal courts in Archer, Clay, Cooke, Denton, Hood, Jack, Montague, Parker, Tarantino, Wichita, Wise, and Young County.

Assisting the courts is the clerk’s office. The County Clerk is Lila Deakle, and the District Clerk is Sharena Gilliland. The clerk's offices maintain records for the court system and are responsible for receiving documentation and scheduling hearings.
