The Ellis County District Attorney’s Office is responsible for prosecuting alleged law violators. They file charges against the accused and seek various punishments. In 2020, Ann Montgomery was elected as the District Attorney and has held the office since.

The primary agency is the Waxahachie Police Department, serving Waxahachie, the largest community in the county.
